Does my behavior really matter?
Yes, especially if matched with millions of other like-minded people. As you reduce your carbon footprint and your success is matched with millions of others, we think we can contribute a gigatonne of incremental reduced carbon per year by 2030.
Won't reducing my carbon footprint diminish my lifestyle?
Honestly it might! But no one is going to force you to make changes to your carbon footprint. All we ask is that you increase awareness of your carbon footprint, and seriously consider making changes. You might be surprised how small some sacrifices are. You can choose what to work on and when.
Aren't governments and corporations responsible for all of this?
What they produce, we consume. If we don’t consume the carbon-laden products and services they produce, they will stop producing them. We have tremendous power to steer large institutions away from the bad and towards the good.
It's a hard truth that no matter what I do or don't do, I still produce carbon.
Yes it is. This is true for governments and businesses as well. Fortunately, there are carbon credits, i.e. activities that remove carbon from the air, that individuals can buy, or even better, earn! Let’s Own This! hopes to create programs that allow people to actively participate in carbon credit programs, which could allow consumers to become carbon negative without breaking the bank!
Does reducing carbon dioxide in the air really matter?
Yes it really does matter. Most scientists agree ambient carbon dioxide is an important reason the glaciers are melting, there are more wildfires, there is more frequent flooding, and devastating droughts are more frequent.
